Paul is Artistic Director of Crashmat Collective a Wales based Circus Theatre Company that seeks to blur the boundaries between performers and audience. He is also a freelance director, choreographer and performer. Interested in new approaches to circus directing and choreography and using the circus vocabulary as the starting point for development.

Paul has had over 25 years’ experience as a gymnast, performing with the Welsh Gymnastics Squad and achieving many competitive accolades at national level. After completing his BA in Drama, specialising in acting and directing; Paul trained with NoFit State Circus touring as an apprentice in: Static Trapeze, Flying Trapeze, Swinging Trapeze, Cloudswing, Rope, Silks and Rigging; on their Tabu tour. He specialises in Static Trapeze and new aerial equipment.

Paul has recently conducted research into Aerial and the Voice and Aerial and Repetition and was supported by the Jerwood Choreographic Research Project, with funds from The Jerwood Charitable Foundation, Birmingham Hippodrome, Déda, Greenwich+Docklands International Festival, The Opera Group and The Roundhouse; with additional support from Arts Council of Wales.

Paul also teaches and guest lectures in creative aerial and physical theatre in practice.
